Selective Catalytic Reduction

also referred to as SCR

An Selective Catalytic Redcution unit is a special type of catalyst installed into the exhaust systems of modern Euro 4&5 diesel powered vehicles.

The SCR injects AdBlue (AUS32) into the exhaust gases under pressure. The SCR type catalyist typically has a head made from Zeolite (Ceramic).

SCR's are very susceptible to damage from foreign matter. They can also be rendered ineffective by AdBlue if its structure has changed due to the de-ionised water stripping ions from incorrectly.
